Chapters 5–6
Airport to hotel, and getting around
Decide the transfer before landing, especially with children, mobility equipment, or a late arrival. On the Strip, one visible resort can still be a long, hot walk away.
Official airport taxi price card
| Item | Current official amount |
| Airport Zone 1 — Sunset to Tropicana | $21.25 flat fare |
| Airport Zone 2 — Tropicana to Flamingo | $25.25 flat fare |
| Airport Zone 3 — Flamingo to The STRAT | $29.25 flat fare |
Verified July 17, 2026 from the Nevada Taxicab Authority. The zone fare applies to qualifying direct airport–Strip trips; the Authority's current zone map controls the hotel boundary. Card fees and the excise tax can make the amount paid higher than the printed zone number. Ask before adding stops or changing destinations.
Harry Reid International Airport options

| Monorail | $5.50 online one ride; $13.45 online 24 hr | East-side Strip corridor and convention travel |
| Taxi/rideshare | Variable; airport and event rules apply | Point-to-point, late night, groups |
| Walking | Free, but distance and heat are real | One zone at a time |
Monorail essentials
- Seven stations run from SAHARA to MGM Grand on the east side of the Strip.
- Trains typically arrive every 4–8 minutes during operating hours.
- Stations have elevators and level boarding; allow extra time to reach platforms inside large resorts.
- A pass saves money only if its time window matches your actual ride plan. Estimate walks from casino entrance to casino entrance, then add bridges, elevators, crowds, and heat.
Verified free-parking board
| Property | Current rule |
| Treasure Island | Self-parking is advertised as free for hotel and casino guests; event controls can still affect access. |
| Circus Circus | Self-parking is complimentary for guests and visitors; the property warns that special-event pricing may apply. |
| SAHARA | The property advertises free self-parking and valet for hotel and property guests. |
| Casino Royale | The hotel advertises ample free parking. |
| Rio (off-Strip) | Complimentary self-parking is currently advertised. |
| Wynn / Encore | Not a general free-parking holdout: registered resort guests receive free self-parking; other visitors currently get three complimentary hours, then pay the posted daily rate unless eligible through Wynn Rewards or another program. |
The MGM credit card shortcut — without the hype. The no-annual-fee MGM Rewards Mastercard currently grants the cardholder Pearl status and complimentary self-parking at MGM Resorts Las Vegas properties. It is not an instant curbside sign-up trick: applicants must qualify, the product is for eligible U.S. residents, and MGM says the tier can take 7–10 days to appear. A valid rewards card is needed at the garage. Consider credit terms and personal credit impact; do not open a card solely because one trip's parking looks expensive.
2026 construction watch
- South Strip: Clark County's two-year Las Vegas Boulevard Phase C & D project runs between Russell Road and Tropicana Avenue. Lanes and intersections can be restricted or closed as waterline, paving, signal, lighting, and pedestrian-safety work advances.
- Tropicana site: the former Tropicana parcel is becoming the Athletics' ballpark district. Treat the intersection as a changing construction zone.
- Center Strip: the former Mirage site is being redeveloped as Hard Rock Las Vegas, including the planned guitar-shaped hotel. Expect views, entrances, curb space, and nearby walking patterns to evolve.
- Check Clark County's project notices and pedestrian-bridge status, then use live navigation on the travel day. Allow a 20–30 minute route buffer for airport runs, shows, and timed entries near active work.
