What makes it distinctive

Vegas Weddings opened in 2001 and sits catty-corner to the Clark County Marriage License Bureau, which makes it the most convenient chapel in the city for a get-the-license-then-marry morning. The property holds five formats under one roof: a remodeled 100-seat chapel with automatic double doors, a second-story Terrace Gazebo with a sunset view, the small Crystal Suite, a reception hall, and the Fast Lane, a drive-through and walk-up window where a ceremony takes five to ten minutes. Off-site packages run to Valley of Fire, a helicopter over the Grand Canyon and Nelson's Ghost Town.

Who it suits

Pick Vegas Weddings when logistics are the priority: you can walk out of the license bureau and be married across the street, and the drive-through is the cheapest legal wedding on this list at a published $89, or $69 on the promotion running when we checked. The chapel's own page is refreshingly honest that taxes, fees and gratuities push that $89 to about $170 out the door. The rule that decides whether this is your place is photography: outside photographers are prohibited and guests may not take photos or video before, during or after the ceremony unless you buy a Media Pass. If you have a photographer you love, look elsewhere.

Location and ceremony options

On South 3rd Street at Bonneville in Downtown, across from the Marriage License Bureau. Paid parking is across the street; the small lots along the chapel walls are tow-away. Hours run from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and to midnight on Friday and Saturday.

Starting price and what it buys

The Fastest package is $89 for the couple only, ceremony in your car at the Fast Lane window, with no photos, and was promoted at $69 through September 30 when we checked. Faster is $139 for up to two guests with a mini photo shoot; Fast is $319 with a limo for six and up to four guests. The cheapest chapel package, Cherish, is $159 in the Crystal Suite for up to six guests with nine professional ceremony photos. The site quotes chapel packages from $159, outdoor packages from $399, Elvis packages from $499 and receptions from $2,199. Fridays, Saturdays and premium days add $100.

Fees and exclusions to price in

• 19% surcharge on all balances due, covering gratuities, filing and recording fees, permits, coordination, set-up and card fees
• Minister or officiant fee added to every wedding and renewal package, typically $40 to $80; $80 fee to use an outside minister
• Add $100 for Fridays, Saturdays and premium days
• Nevada sales tax added to products and services
• The chapel's own drive-through page estimates the $89 ceremony at about $170 out the door, and at least $272 with the $102 license

Photography and outside photographers

The FAQ is explicit: the chapel has its own photographers and videographers and does not allow outside vendors or guests to take photos or videos before, during or after the ceremony, and the policy is strictly enforced. A Media Pass can be added for an unpublished fee to let guests photograph the ceremony itself. Cherish includes nine professional ceremony photos; the $89 Fastest package includes none; Faster and Fast include a mini shoot with one or three 5x7 prints. Photo add-on sessions were promoted at $205 for four digital images, $305 for seven and $505 for the top tier; copyright release is not included in the base print package.

Accessibility, weather and permits

• The FAQ states the chapel is wheelchair accessible, and the limo accommodates wheelchairs and car seats though it does not supply them
• Outdoor packages include the required site permits
• No weather backup is published for the Terrace Gazebo or off-site venues
• The bridal suite holds two people and has no changing area; arrive dressed
